We are looking for a team leader to run a small team putting up marquees and delivering equipment for the 2015. No experiance with marquees is required at all however you will have demonstrable leadership experiance and good time management skills, working to a very tight schedule at all times.


Job Description – Operations Team leader


We are a small family run seasonal business with a strong reliance on repeat business from satisfied clients. Our team leaders need three main attributes:
  • Credible and demonstrable leadership skills
  • A courteous, professional and friendly manner with clients
  • Attention to detail and a “right first time” mentality



The Team leader role will be a fixed contract to run for six months from the middle of April. The salary will be £8,000 for six months, paid monthly, with a ‘satisfactory completion bonus’ of up to £2000 payable at the end of the contract dependent on performance..



The Operations Team leader role requires a well organised, presentable and exceptionally fit individual with good supervisory skills and some previous experience in the marquee industry or other arena requiring safe, physically demanding activity.



Our services involve construction and dismantling of temporary structures as well as installation and removal of simple temporary electrics and mobile gas appliances so knowledge in these areas would be an advantage.



Our ideal person will have basic skills which would be useful in maintaining and repairing equipment. They will be required to take responsibility for the health and safety of staff under their supervision, the safe construction and securing of marquees and for ensuring that clients are shown how to use our equipment safely.



This business is highly seasonal and will require the team leader to be available for work throughout the summer including some weekends and bank holidays.



Main responsibilities:
  • Supervise and take part in the picking and loading of items for the construction and fitting out of marquees including metal work, roof and wall material and canvas, wooden floors and carpet.
  • Supervise and take part in the safe and efficient construction, securing, flooring, lining and lighting a variety of marquees and party tents
  • Supervise and take part in the safe and efficient deconstruction of the above
  • Supervise and take part in the picking, safe transportation, delivery and collection of furniture and cater hire equipment
  • Supervise and take part in the safe and efficient cleaning, maintenance and storage of all equipment and hire items
  • Efficient planning and use of resources, labour and vehicles
  • Effective and courteous communications with colleagues and clients



    Main Requirements

    Full clean driving licence ideally this should include trailers
  • Previous experience of supervising or managing a team
  • Experience of basic wiring and electrics and DIY skills
  • Clear understanding of health and safety requirements and appropriate experience and skills (safe lifting and handling, first aid, working at heights, etc)
  • Good organisational and problem solving skills
  • Willingness and capability to carry out a physically and mentally demanding role including some weekend and bank holiday work and long days during peak season.


    Successful candidates at interview will be asked to undertake a couple of day’s work, paid at an hourly rate of £7.50, as a‘practical interview’ to gauge ability before being offered the contract.
